Invitation to the CODI-HUG Conference -
Vice-President's report Board Meeting Minutes

President's letter Lately I’m struck by the irony of two different bits of wisdom. The first is, “The only constant is change,” and the second is “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” This certainly seems to be the case with library automation these days. We have changes in automation systems, changes in modules, and changes in interfaces. And change isn’t just in the technical areas. We have changes in our libraries as employees move to new opportunities or retire. And we have change in the partnerships that we work with. One of those changes has been the appointment of a new President and CEO for epixtech. Jack Blount has hit the ground running. And he’s made some changes of his own. He’s brought some new staff into the company, and moved some existing staff into new positions. He’s also brought a new focus of making sure the product really works. Something we can all agree with. And yet with all these changes, we still seem to face the same challenges over and over again. Getting clear communication for installation and on-going support, having functionality that meets the needs of our users, and finding time to learn and share with others about all the new technologies becoming available to us. Which brings us to one of the most important things that our user group does for you. The Annual Conference. This year’s conference, Strength In Partnership, will give us a chance to deal with both the things that have changed and those that have stayed the same. Of course the conference is also one of the things that has changed. This will be our first joint conference with the Horizon Users Group. You’ll see changed faces (and some old ones missing from CODI conference for a couple of years), you’ll see new products, and you’ll see lots of vendors. But the best things are those that won’t have changed. You’ll have the chance to hear product updates, meet with members of product development teams, share with colleagues, and learn so much new stuff you won’t know what to do with it all. Plan ahead to make the most of the conference. Check the conference website for last minute changes and up to date program handouts, wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared to ask questions, meet new people, and build partnerships. Be sure to look for the game room when you need an evening break, and be sure to thank the vendors for taking the time to come and be part of the conference. I’ll see you in Orlando!!
