President's Letter

Wow what a year! Hard to believe a quarter of my Presidency is over. What a thrill it has been to work with such a great board and to lead such a prestigious group.

The board has moved mountains again this year in our work with Dynix. Frances McNamara oversaw the moving of the website from Eccles (which we can't thank enough for supporting the web site and lists for many years) to Xmission, our new internet hosting provider. We are working very hard, thanks to Tammy Baker, on the flow of enhancements and how to best facilitate getting these great ideas back to Dynix. Board members have been attending regional user meetings when we can--coordinated through Elaine Bird. Catherine Willis has been exploring Special Interest Groups (SIGS) and how CODI might utilize their knowledge and needs. Sharon Castleberry has been working with Membership and the membership drive. Susie Speer Corbett has been working with the bank in order to keep CODI in the best financial situation. Deanna Frazee put her time in last year with surveys and by-laws. Vicki, Eileen and I have been working on future conference options with the conference planner. Eileen is working hard with her group getting the conference put together as well.

Last month I appointed a special adhoc committee to look at the communication needs of CODI. This group is working to identify the best software option we might consider for membership use. The list serve is getting so large that many of the service providers we contacted couldn't handle our traffic without breaking the list into smaller groups. This ad hoc committee has been tasked with exploring options (wikis, bulletin boards, chat options etc...) to find the best option that might work for our group. I have asked Bruce Heimburger to head this group. They have already started to meet and get a better feel for the new version of bulletin boards. I have charged them to explore options and present at the annual conference what they find and recommend.

Thanks for your support and if you have questions or concerns please don't be shy and send them my way. CODI is here to advocate for Dynix customers as a whole.
