Horizon Enhancements |
NOTE: THESE ENHANCEMENTS WERE ABANDOND ONCE SIRSIDYNIX DROPPED HORIZON 8
The Enhancements Process [for Horizon] has Changed by Laura England Product Liaison, CODI [5-2008] As you may already know, the enhancement process has changed since the last Call to Vote. We no longer have an active enhancement request database since there will be no major release of Horizon (other than what has already been announced by SirsiDynix over these next two years). However, CODI enhancements that have been entered since the 2006 call to vote have NOT disappeared or been forgotten. The full list has been compared to Symphony and those that are not already in Symphony or slated for a future release will still be considered (if applicable). The current UUGI (Unicorn Users Group, Inc., representing Unicorn and Symphony customers of SirsiDynix) enhancement request process looks a little different from CODI's. They use discussion forums, which allow Horizon-L-like discussion of Unicorn and Symphoney issues. Each software module (and a few groups like consortia, K-12, academic, etc.) is assigned a separate forum, and each forum has a moderator. Those moderators keep an eye on the discussions and turn appropriate threads into enhancement requests which are voted upon by the members on an annual basis. Amy Terlaga (CODI President), Jim Wilson (SD/CODI Liaison) and myself have been meeting with Berit Nelson (SD), Scott Thomas (UUGI Enhancements Forum Coordinator) and Tammy Baker (past CODI Product Liaison/Enhancement Coordinator) to look at how the two processes can be merged to blend the best of both worlds. As a start, we have reviewed the current CODI enhancement lists to determine which requests already exist in Symphony, which requests are no longer applicable because Symphony and Horizon differ and which requests might be transitioned into enhancement suggestions for Symphony. After review by Scott Thomas and the UUGI moderatiors, Berit and the SD staff also reveiwed the list, which is included for your perusal. It will also be posted on the CODI web page.
